The Judy Chops bring their high-energy blend of swing, blues, rock, soul and Americana to the Pocahontas County Opera House on Saturday, November 21.

Based in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, The Judy Chops have grown from a regional favorite into one of the area’s most exciting live acts. Their sound blends modern and vintage styles, bringing together roots music, brass, rhythm, harmony and a live-show energy that feels built for a room full of people.

The Judy Chops are the sort of band that seems made for the stage. Their music has polish, but it also has grit under the fingernails. Horns, rhythm, vocals and rootsy arrangements come together in a sound that can feel like a dance hall, a backroad bar, a festival stage and a front-porch jam all rolled into one beautifully overstuffed suitcase.

At the Opera House, that energy should translate into a lively November night, just when the season needs a little heat. The band’s Americana foundation gives the music familiarity, while the swing and soul influences keep it moving in unexpected directions. It is music with personality, pulse and a grin that knows something.

Audiences can expect a concert that is upbeat, musically sharp and generous in spirit. For fans of roots music with a little brass, a little swagger and a lot of rhythm, The Judy Chops should be circled on the calendar in permanent ink.

Series Support: The Pocahontas County Opera House Performance Series is presented with support from the West Virginia Division of Culture & History, the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, Pocahontas County Dramas, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
