The Pocahontas County Opera House welcomes Ouros and Danny Knicely for an evening of Spanish fusion, global roots and acoustic virtuosity.
Ouros brings together bilingual songs, rich harmonies and a wide musical imagination. The group’s sound draws from Spanish and English-language traditions, with influences that move through flamenco, bluegrass, jazz, Latin music and traditional American and European roots. Their music feels like a conversation across regions and traditions, full of rhythm, color and musical curiosity.
Joining that musical conversation is Danny Knicely, a masterful multi-instrumentalist with deep roots in the Shenandoah Valley’s old-time and bluegrass traditions. Knicely is known for using those roots as a launching point for wide-ranging collaborations, connecting Appalachian music with sounds and musicians from around the world.
The result is music that does not treat tradition like a museum piece. Instead, it treats tradition like a river, fed by many streams and still moving. Mandolin, guitar, rhythm, voice and harmony come together in a performance that is both technically impressive and emotionally generous.
For Pocahontas County listeners, this concert offers a beautiful meeting place: Appalachian roots in conversation with Spanish-language songcraft and global acoustic traditions. It is a reminder that musical borders are often more like screen doors than walls.
Series Support: The Pocahontas County Opera House Performance Series is presented with support from the West Virginia Division of Culture & History, the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, Pocahontas County Dramas, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
