Opry Night returns to the Pocahontas County Opera House with an evening of old-time and bluegrass music featuring Mudhole Control and Myra Morrison & Friends.
Opry Night has become one of the Opera House’s favorite ways to celebrate the music that lives close to home. This year’s program brings together musicians rooted in traditional sounds, with a focus on the fiddle tunes, songs, stories and string band energy that have long shaped life in the mountains.
The beauty of Opry Night is its immediacy. This is not distant music under glass. It is living-room music, porch music, dance music and community music. It has traveled through families, festivals, jam circles, radio shows and late nights when someone says, “Let’s play one more,” and everyone knows one more means four.
Mudhole Control and Myra Morrison & Friends will help carry that spirit onto the Opera House stage, offering an evening that honors tradition while keeping it alive in the present tense. Audiences can expect old-time drive, bluegrass flavor and the kind of musical camaraderie that makes a theatre feel smaller in the best possible way.
For longtime fans of Appalachian music, Opry Night is a homecoming. For newcomers, it is a welcoming front door into the sound of this region. Either way, the evening promises heart, heritage and plenty of rosin in the air.
Series Support: The Pocahontas County Opera House Performance Series is presented with support from the West Virginia Division of Culture & History, the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, Pocahontas County Dramas, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
