Jazz vocalist Lena Seikaly brings elegance, warmth and a deep command of the jazz tradition to the Pocahontas County Opera House on Saturday, March 20.

A longtime fixture of the Washington, D.C. jazz scene, Seikaly is known for a voice that honors classic jazz singing while remaining fully alive to contemporary expression. Her work reflects the pleasures that make jazz vocals so enduring: phrasing that can bend time, melodies treated as living things and an ability to move between intimacy and swing without forcing either one.

In the right room, jazz becomes conversation. The singer, the band and the audience trade attention back and forth until the whole evening feels tuned by ear. The Opera House offers the kind of intimate setting where that conversation can flourish.

Listeners can expect a performance shaped by nuance, musical intelligence and emotional clarity. Seikaly’s work appeals to fans of classic jazz standards, modern vocal interpretation and anyone who appreciates a singer who knows when to dazzle and when to let a lyric simply stand in the light.

This March concert brings a different color to the Performance Series palette: sophisticated, soulful and quietly electric.

Series Support: The Pocahontas County Opera House Performance Series is presented with support from the West Virginia Division of Culture & History, the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, Pocahontas County Dramas, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
