Singer-songwriter and guitarist Margaret Glaspy comes to the Pocahontas County Opera House with a sound that is direct, literate and edged with rock-and-roll electricity.

Glaspy has built a national reputation for songs that balance vulnerability with bite. Her music is rooted in sharp songwriting, expressive guitar work and performances that make lean arrangements feel emotionally full. She moves through folk, rock and songwriter traditions without becoming overly polished or predictable.

There is something refreshing about music that does not overdecorate itself. Glaspy’s songs tend to leave the beams exposed. Guitar, voice, melody and language do the work, and the result can feel both intimate and bracing.

At the Opera House, Glaspy’s performance should offer the kind of concert that rewards close attention. These are songs with sharp corners and human centers, songs that can whisper, flare up and leave a line hanging in the room after the final chord.

For audiences who love thoughtful songwriting, indie folk-rock and guitar-driven performance, Margaret Glaspy’s appearance is one of the season’s standout concerts. It is a chance to hear a nationally respected songwriter in one of West Virginia’s most intimate listening rooms.

Series Support: The Pocahontas County Opera House Performance Series is presented with support from the West Virginia Division of Culture & History, the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, Pocahontas County Dramas, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
