Austin Walkin’ Cane brings original and classic Delta blues to the Pocahontas County Opera House.

A blues singer, songwriter and slide guitarist, Walkin’ Cane draws from Delta blues while shaping the tradition through his own voice and guitar work. His repertoire combines original songs with classic blues material, and his career has taken him across the United States and internationally.

The blues has always carried a powerful mixture of grit, humor, ache and motion. In Walkin’ Cane’s hands, slide guitar becomes another voice, bending notes and pulling rhythm from the instrument in a way that feels immediate rather than polished for polish’s sake.

The Opera House offers an intimate setting where the scrape of the slide, grain of the vocal and pulse of the rhythm can come through clearly.

Sometimes the blues does not need a large room to feel large. Sometimes it just needs a guitar, a voice and a crowd willing to lean in.
