The Pocahontas County Opera House closes the 2026-27 Performance Series with Los Cumpleaños, bringing cumbia, tropical rhythm and Brooklyn energy to Marlinton.

Los Cumpleaños takes a psychedelic approach to Colombian cumbia and other Caribbean and Latin dance traditions, combining percussion with horns, keyboards and experimental textures. The result has the playfulness of an experimental group and the momentum of a band built to get a room moving.

Cumbia has deep roots and a remarkably long reach. Los Cumpleaños uses that rhythmic foundation as a launching point, mixing traditional dance forms with synths, brass and a loose, celebratory live-show energy.

As a season closer, the band provides the right kind of exclamation point. After a year of theater, bluegrass, jazz, blues, old-time, folk-rock and global roots music, the Opera House ends with a concert designed to move the room.

Sitting still will remain permitted. The music may disagree.

The Pocahontas County Opera House Performance Series is presented with support from Pocahontas County Dramas, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
