February 22 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Every February, Opry Night at the Pocahontas County Opera House presents the best in local and regional talent in traditional music, bluegrass with new twists on familiar favorites. This year we welcome Born Old, an old-time group comprised of Doug Van Gundy on fiddle and guitar and Paul Gartner on banjo and guitar. Robin Kessinger, a flat pick guitar legend and native-born West Virginian, will be joining them. Born Old has dedicated their careers to learning, sharing, and sustaining the traditional music of Appalachia, getting close to the source whenever possible. They perform regularly throughout West Virginia and have been featured on Mountain Stage, the Appalachian String Band Festival and the Vandalia Gathering. Rounding up the lineup is Pocahontas County native Hazel Riley who in 2018 was the Blue Ribbon Youth Flat-Pick champion at the Vandalia Gathering held in Charleston, WV.
