Ceara Conway

March 21 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Ceara Conway

**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED** Please continue to check back and follow us on our Facebook page for updates.

Join us for a St. Patrick’s day celebration of Irish music and folk traditions. Ceara Conway, an Irish artist and singer from Galway, will spend a week in Pocahontas County conducting workshops and playing with local Celtic musicians. On Saturday night, she will present a concert featuring some of the local talent. Conway is known for producing innovative experiential performance works that utilize elements such as live singing, appropriated texts, testimonies and visual art to explore social and cultural experiences of power and loss in response to issues such as cultural colonialism, exile and migration. Her most recent album, CAOIN, is a collection of powerful laments from all over the world.

We are saddened to announce that our first international artist residency with Ceara Conway has been postponed due to the current concern surrounding Covid-19. Fortunately, we have been able to postpone the event rather than cancel it entirely, and we will be welcoming Ceara to Pocahontas County once it is safer for our community to come out and enjoy the music once again.

We would like to say thank you to the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation for their flexibility during this difficult time, and we would like to send well wishes to everyone in our community and in the state. Please stay safe and help one another if you are able. We urge you to keep an eye on our website and social media for further cancellations in the case that they become necessary.

Well wishes,

The Pocahontas County Opera House Foundation
