Fiddle-Fare-PosterFour WV Craft Beers + A Four Course Appetizer Dinner + Four Fiddlers = an evening of fun and music. That’s what’s happening at the Fiddlehead in Slaty Fork on October 24, 2014 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Gil and Mary Willis, owners of both the Elk River Inn and the Fiddlehead, have teamed up with the Opera House to put on an evening of food and music pairing four WV brewed beers with a special menu created by Chef David Carte.

Gil and Mary are big fans of the Opera House and hope this will make people in the northern end of the county more aware of what’s going on just down the road. “We’re so lucky to have a place like the Opera House to go hear all kinds of great music in a beautiful historical building,” said Gil.

Plus the event provides an opportunity to showcase some of the terrific craft beers brewed here in West Virginia.  Something Mary Willis has been wanting to do for some time. “Beer has come a long way in our state over the last few years,” Willis explained. “The flavors are more complex and people are discovering it’s not just something you eat with pizza. It can be a great accompaniment to a fine meal.”

Chef Carte is charged with coming up with the perfect dish for each brew, sampling the potential beers and searching for the right combination of flavors. The menu has yet to be settled on but diners should expect the same fine quality and creative fare the Elk River Inn is known for.

Because it’s a benefit for the Opera House, there’s got to be music. And, because it’s happening at the Fiddlehead, the choice seemed pretty obvious. Brynn Kusic, Opera House manager, is still putting the finishing touches on the line-up. Four fiddlers will provide the perfect ambiance for what is bound to be a fun evening.

The cost is forty dollars which will cover the four course heavy appetizer meal, four samples of each beer and a good time for a good cause. Seating is limited and it is suggested you call the Opera House at 304 -799-6645 to reserve your spot. Tickets are also available at the Fourth Street Gallery in Marlinton.
