The Pocahontas County Opera House is pleased to offer a week long Summer Theater Camp July 16-21, 2018 for youth completing 1st through 8th grades.
The Pocahontas County Opera House is partnering with Missoula Children’s Theater’s Touring Program to bring to life a full theatrical production in a single week! Missoula Children’s Theater is the nation’s largest touring children’s theater and has been touring extensively for more than 40 years, from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year. A tour team will arrive in Marlinton with everything it takes to put on the play: Peter & Wendy in Neverland …except the cast!
On Monday morning, campers will be cast in their parts. Every camper will have a role. Children will rehearse throughout the week in a fun, safe and supportive atmosphere Additionally, the Opera House will offer optional extra theater related classes to extend the camp day. Then Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, they will shine on our very own Opera House Stage!
Children completing 1st through 8th grades are invited to apply. The registration fee is $25 for the first child and $15 for each sibling. Scholarships are available. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to attend; special accommodations can be arranged upon request. Up to 60 children will be registered. The camp will run Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:30pm, with the option of extra theater fun extending the day from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Children must attend every day from 10:30-2:30 in order to participate. The performances will be July 20th at 6:00pm and July 21st at 2:00pm.

Pocahontas County Opera House Youth Initiative Programming is presented with financial assistance from the County Commission through the Emma Eisenberg donation, The Snowshoe Foundation, and the Family Resource Network, as well as many additional community businesses’ and organizations’ support. Those who wish to donate additional funds or volunteer for this project are encouraged to contact the Opera House.
